A perennial, erect herb up to 25-100cm tall, common in well-drained open places of sub-tropical and temperate zones.
Taxonomic Features
Stem branched, 4-angled. Leaves oblong to oblong-lanceolate, deeply serrate, lyrately pinnatifid to subentire, narrowed at base, lower petiolate, upper sessile. Inflorescence a spike, terminal, paniculate, 10-30cm long. Flower pale lilac-pink or purplish, 4mm across, subsessile. Calyx tube longer than bracts, ribbed, hairy. Corolla tube cylindrical, hairy. Fruit nutlets type, enclosed.

Medicinal Value
Used to treat depression, insomnia, jaundice, urinary problems, menstrual cramps. Aerial parts are nerve tonic, liver stimulant and increase breast milk. Locally paste of whole plant is used for healing wounds and seed boiled in milk are given to feeding mothers.
