of our herbarium aims to,
Digitally
preserve, document and disseminate the local and exotic plants for research,
education, conservation and sustainable development.
Further
we believe in
1. Preservation and conservation:
To create a long term digital record
of plant specimens for conservation of local plant diversity.
To reduce risk of loss due to
environmental and physical damage of herbarium collection.
2.
Research and Education:
To support botanical and ethno
botanical research by providing easy online access to plant data.
To promote and education and
awareness about local endemic plants.
3.
Accessibility and Collaboration:
To provide open access to students ,
researchers and institution globally.
To collaborate with national and
international herbaria and biodiversity databases.

Value Addition and Sustainable Use:
To aid in identifying medicinal and
economic plants that can contribute to local industries and live hood.
To encourage responsible use of
plant resources for herbal medicines, ,cosmetic and agriculture.

Integration with Modern Technology:
To use GIS, bar coding and AI tools
for better identification, classification ecological mapping of plant species.

economic development in Azad Kashmir
Scope
Our
herbarium is just a scientific archive but it is a multi-dimensional platform that promotes research, education,
conservation, economic development and global reorganization
of
Kashmir natural heritage.
It
scope is broad and impactful which involves,

Cataloguing of local flora and preserving of digital records of plant
specimens.
2. Usage for students, researchers,
teachers and all stakeholders involved in medicinal plants research.
3. Supports distance and digital
learning in plant sciences.
4.
A Plate farm for floristic, taxonomic and ecological research.
5. Promotes eco tourism by
showcasing native plant diversity.
6. Positions Azad Jammu Kashmir on
global biodiversity map.
7.
Highlights cultural and traditional use of plants in local life
8. Encourages development of botanical trails
and heritage in AJK.
