Stem erect, leafy and branched from base. Leaves simple, entire, ovate-narrow elliptic, dark green. Inflorescence a dense spike, branched. Flower zygomorphic, bracts yellow-green, mauve-white to pale-pink. Calyx 5-toothed. Corolla 2-lipped. Fruit is a nutlet, oblong, longitudinally furrowed, dark or pale brown.
