Perennial herb up to 2 m tall, common on open slopes of temperate and sub-alpine zones.
Taxonomic Features
Leaves large, pinnately lobed, segments lanceolate to oblong, up to 40cm long, margin serrate to dentate, white below. Inflorescence an umbel. Umbellules 20-30 flowered. Flower large, white to pale yellow-green.Calyx teeth minute, linear. Outer petals of umbel bilobed. Fruit pear-shaped, with dorsal and intermediate filiform ridges.

Medicinal Value
Leaves are digestive and sedative. Locally it is useful in treatment of cough, flu, headache, sore throats and cramps. Fruit has aphrodisiac properties. Decoction of root is used for treatment of rheumatism.
